When tradespeople carry out work on their own homes, they want to use the very best products from companies who have always supported them in the past. That’s why, when one of Continal Underfloor Heating’s existing customers decided to fit underfloor heating in his own property, he knew who to call.
The underfloor heating was to be installed across two floors of the home – a 74m2 ground floor, and a 67m2 first floor. A standard Continal® screed system was used on the ground floor, with SUPERflex™-16 pipe fixed in place using 50mm staples, before being encased in a liquid screed.
Ceiling height restrictions on the first floor meant that UFH on that level needed to be as thin as possible, so as not to impact on the finished room heights. After discussing the system with the client, Continal’s Technical Sales Adviser recommended he chose the low-profile OneBoard® structural system, which can be laid directly onto joists to ensure a minimum floor build height.
OneBoard® is a composite chipboard panel with built-in heat dissipation foil, which is strong enough to be used as the finished floor construction. It has been cleverly designed to incorporate pipe returns within the chipboard without compromising the structure. SUPERflex™-12 pipe can be pressed easily into the precisely engineered grooves at 150mm pipe centres and, with a capping of 6mm ply, OneBoard® can be used with any floor covering.
